Peter Lim, a long term member and currently the President of LSAA is delighted to announce that Tensys is embarking on a new and exciting journey by merging with schlaich bergermann partner sbp.
Last year, we celebrated 35 years of Tensys. Through almost all those 35 years, we have worked alongside sbp. Since that fateful day in early 1992 that Tensys founder Dr David Wakefield was invited by sbp co-founder Rudi Bergermann to visit Stuttgart (back when we both worked out of attic offices!), our two firms’ boards and directors have developed deep working relationships and meaningful friendships. This merger is the next natural step in the evolution of our relationship.
Tensys has a proud history of bringing our design excellence to some of the world’s most ambitious tensile engineering projects across art, architecture and aerospace. At the core of that has always been our people and our strong and trusted relationships with clients. But today, those same clients face challenges and opportunities requiring expertise both global and local, specialised and generalist. Together, we will both benefit from a broader geographic and knowledge network spanning the globe: bringing our world-renowned specialist expertise to sbp’s knowledge network and landmark projects.
So whenever in the past 36 years you first met our Tensys family: in Queen Square, George St, St Swithins Yard or Wells Rd in Bath, or Victoria Parade or Gore St in Melbourne, know that the fundamentals aren’t changing. We will still be here as Tensys, with our studios in Bath and Melbourne and our unique history and culture. For more than 35 years, we have innovated into the future of tensile structures: and we now look forward to beginning this new journey as we go forward together with sbp.
