Structurflex 2012 International Achievement Awards

Structurflex scooped two of the top awards at last week’s 2012 International Achievement Awards (IAA)

The Maori waka that graced Auckland’s Viaduct harbour during Rugby World Cup received the Award of Excellence in the Technical and Other Miscellaneous category, and the Columbus Commons Bicentennial Pavilion took out the Award of Excellence for Tensile Structures between 600-2300sqm.

The awards are held annually to recognize excellence in design and innovation and promote awareness of the specialty fabrics used in thousands of products and applications ranging in size and type. The Awards of Excellence are the top awards for a category and a testament to the inspired engineering of the Structurflex team.

There were a total of 335 entries from 14 countries, and 81 winners across 30 project categories.

Winners were selected based on complexity, design, workmanship, uniqueness and function. Judges included industry experts, editors, architects, educators and design professionals, and they were chosen for their knowledge in a particular field of study or product area.

The awards took place at the IFAI Expo Americas 2012 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Centre in Boston Mass.
