The LSAA 1996 Design Awards had three categories - small, medium and large structures.

The following three projects were received in the 1996 Large Structures Category:
3000 Porirua City Covered Walkway
This is an intriguing 400m long walkway canopy creating a new type of public space which was enhanced by a subtle landscape design and is responsive to contextual and cultural values. It upgrades the image of the central area adding to the dramatic skyline.
3172 Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre
This outstanding project caters for Conventions, Conferences and Trade Exhibitions ranging the full spectrum from global to local including indoor sports, concerts, balls and dinners.
3007 Hong Kong Stadium – Roof
The entry covers the design of the steel and fabric roof to the new Hong Kong Football Stadium

2122 Lakeside Joondalup Shopping Centre
The City of Joondalup is located 26km north of the City of Perth and is part of the North Western Corridor, a region which is consistently been one of Australia’s highest growth areas over the past 10 years. The Lakeside Joondalup Shopping Centre is the culmination of planning which began in 1976 to serve the needs of a rapidly expanding population that was moving further away from the State Capital.
2120 Queens Wharf
To provide a striking feature for the new Entertainment / Retail Centre on Queens Wharf, Wellington. The three overlapping hypars provide a real nautical flavour to this new harbourside development.
2602 Gisborne Olympic Pool Cover
To provide all year weather protection over an Olympic 50m seaside pool. The structure could be adapted to suit the seasonal changes and attract a wider leisure market all year round.

2603 Tower Spaceframe Pyramid
Application – To supply an architectural solution to the refurbishment and signage on the Tower Life New Australian Head Office
1601 Revy Canopies
Application: To provide walkway covers between the building entrances and all weather cover to the canteen area
1474 McDonalds Restaurant, Melbourne Grand Prix 1996
A temporary structure for weather protection whilst providing an architectural impact
3335 Paul Adams Motors
The three striking canopies provide a vibrant focal point for the site, extensive cover for the display areas and very effective shade to the main office and reception in the glass walled building.
1126 Adelaide Stock Exchange Geodesic Dome, Santos Tower, Adelaide
The Investor Centre functions as a high exposure display area and office tenancy for the Australian Stock Exchange in the Plaza Foyer for the Santos Tower, one of Adelaide’s premier buildings
1352 News Ltd – Louvre Wall Rod Support
The administration block to the complex required an elegant shade structure to the façade; a simple louvred wall supported on a vertical tensioned rod was the best architectural solution.
