In preparation for the return of the summer Olympics to Australia, Brisbane is working on "green and gold" infrastructure projects during the 10 year lead up period to the games.
Some new "green bridges" will enable - and encourage - more pedestrians and cyclists to move around the city in an environmentally friendly manner.
Brisbane itself will be the location for 18 of the 32 events.
Almost certainly the Gabba will be redeveloped - again - and the projected cost could well exceed $1bn. This time the road network in the area may well be completely redesigned.
More details to follow.
