Media Release Statement: Oxford Falls Grammar School’s “Field of Dreams”
Oxford Falls Grammar School’s “Field of Dreams” project exemplifies a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics, addressing both the practical needs of weather protection and the visual integration with the school's architecture.
The bespoke canopy, commissioned for two competition basketball courts on the upper level of a two-story building, features a PTFE tensioned fabric roof structure renowned for its durability and weather resistance. Complementing this, stainless steel mesh encircles the open-air facility, serving as a safety barrier and fall protection while preserving air circulation and visual openness.
Our approach to the project was grounded in a thorough understanding of the client’s needs. We designed, fabricated, supplied, and installed a structure that not only safeguards athletes and spectators from the elements but also aligns with the aesthetic vision of the Field of Dreams precinct. The use of FGT-800 PTFE fabric was a key decision, chosen for its strength, self-cleaning properties, and translucency that enhances the architectural appeal.
The project presented unique challenges, including the installation of the canopy over a suspended slab, necessitating precise material handling and advanced simulation for load management. Through meticulous planning and the use of specialized equipment, we successfully navigated these constraints, ensuring both structural integrity and visual impact.
Collaboration was crucial throughout the process, with our team maintaining close coordination to address access limitations and construction challenges. Our ongoing maintenance program ensures the structure remains in optimal condition, reflecting our commitment to long-term quality.
Valued at AUD$1.68 million, the Field of Dreams project underscores our dedication to innovation in lightweight structures and our ability to meet complex design requirements effectively.
